Description:
Biography: Striving in Greater Hopes (S.i.G.H) is a melodic hard rock act from Long Island, New York that is ready to break out into today’s evolving music scene. S.i.G.H has been known to leave audiences in a state of euphoria and awe with their haunting vocals, crushing guitars and thunderous rhythm section. The members of the band include Sigh Robes on vocals, JayR Castillo on bass, Daniel Buquicchio on guitars and Frankie Bianco on drums.

Each member of the band contributes their influences into the music that they write, record and produce. This creates a dynamic hard rock group that draws inspiration from pop rock, alternative, metal, and blues. S.i.G.H does not wish to align themselves with a particular genre or scene. Their goal is to create music that people can relate to. The band has built their own studio where they recently recorded their first full length album, “Between Sin and Solitude”.

The album’s eleven tracks represent the band’s originality and bring together their diverse musical and cultural backgrounds. Each member of S.i.G.H has the same goal: to play music for the masses. They are ambitious, professional, and above all dedicated to the music that they play. Striving in Greater Hopes is certainly a band to look out for in today’s colorful urban rock scene.

CD REVIEW:

Between Sin and Solitude, the first release from hard rock new-comers Striving in Greater Hopes (S.i.G.H), is a crushingly heavy and emotional masterpiece. Carefully crafted to appeal to heavy and pop music lovers alike, S.i.G.H isn’t afraid to revive what has unfortunately become an indistinguishable music scene. So, turn off your radios and throw away that outdated pop-punk CD, because after listening to this album, music will never be the same to you again.

From the beginning to the end of this record, it amazes me how S.i.G.H is able to perfectly fuse graceful vocals with addictive melodies. There is not one track on this album you will not tap your foot, nod your head or sing along to. The hooks and overall energy behind each song is unmatched by many of today’s popular artists. Marrying flawless production with talented musicians is the band’s formula for perfection. Between Sin and Solitude is a thoughtful album in every sense of the word. Each track on the 11-song LP is sculpted around the vocals and each individual instrument. With over four months spent on the recording process alone, S.i.G.H’s intense dedication to making a great album is shown. Having influences ranging from In Flames to Alanis Morissette, the band’s work doesn’t fall short of original. S.i.G.H is not afraid to incorporate guitar solos and Black Sabbath inspired riffs into a pop-rock package. Songs like Ignoraphobia and Un-Driven are poppy, catchy, and originally metal to the core. Cyrille, the lead female vocalist, strays from the rest of her female counterparts in today’s pop culture by adding her own soulful sound to the heavy pop-influenced rock music that accompanies her. Her voice (especially on the last track) is sure to send shivers down your spine.

Though the entire album is (to be totally honest) delicious from start to finish-here are some of my favorite tracks: Ignoraphobia, Undriven (both acoustic and electric), Take Me As I Am, Sacrifice, It’s Alright, and S.i.G.H’s cover of You Oughta Know. Buy this album if you love hard rock music. It’s that’s simple-you won’t be disappointed.
